The Road Haulage Executive, trading as British Road Services (BRS), was created as part of a remarkable plan to nationalise transport across the UK.
BRS began to generate its own business as the state run transport system was beginning to suffer.
BRS Truck Rental was launched. The fleet of vehicles, with their distinctive red & blue arrowhead logo, were soon a common sight across the British road network.

The privatisation of many of the UK's publicly owned businesses began. The National Freight Corporation (NFC) was an evolvement of the original Road Haulage Executive, which was transformed into a private company two years earlier. The now called NFCm, under which BRS traded, was fully privatised through a management/employee buy-out.
As the industry boomed, BRS underwent a 'make-over' with a new brand image. The clean white vehicles were retained, but with a new-look 'tyre tread' logo.
BRS continued to play a leading role in the UK transport industry, alongside sister companies Exel Logistics, Lynx & Pickfords.
BRS introduced its first fully computerised operating system providing access to vehicle availability UK wide. This allowed us to better meet our customer's needs.

BRS re-branded to signal its modern, dynamic and forward thinking customer focus.
BRS's commitment to transparency and confidence in its fleet maintenance and compliance led to the BRS O'Licence Pack. This enables customers to view original compliance documents online.
