Wincanton bolsters turnover and profits

Wincanton's annual turnover has risen 12% to break through the £2 billion barrier, with pre-tax profits up to £36.7m from £32.6m, according to its latest results. Companies House figures show that the firm's turnover in the year ending 31 March was £2.16 billion compared with £1.93 billion last year.

Wincanton bought several other hauliers in the last financial year, including Swales, Hanbury Davies and HeBo. Its acquisitions look set to continue, having bid for TDG at 281.25p per share, which is currently subject to due diligence checks.
