Truck alarms handed out free in Cumbria

Cumbrian police have been giving remote vehicle alarms to truck drivers at truckstops and motorway service areas in an effort to reduce vehicle crime. The initiative, funded by the government through the Carlisle and Eden Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, has resulted in 45 alarms being handed out to regular users of several stopping points in the county.

Claire Stevens, crime prevention officer with Cumbria Constabulary, says the original intention was to lend the alarms at the overnight parks so different trucks could use them each night.
