Transaction warns of action over fuel price hikes

One of the men behind last year's fuel protests has told Roadtransport.com that there is a chance of further action this year following the Chancellor's announcement of a 2p/litre duty rise in September.

Transaction 2007 organiser Mike Presneill, of Kent-based tipper operator Presneill Tipper Contractors, says the group of hauliers is "taking stock of the situation with regard to the industry and fuel duty in 2009".

It has changed its website's homepage to read: "We watched Mr Darling's budget with interest! The UK Haulage Industry has had enough fuel duty increases now....be warned Mr Darling! We WILL be taking action!"
